SXSW: A Debriefing

We had an unforgettable journey to Austin during South by Southwest. I spent only a day in the city but my mind was being blown so thoroughly the entire time that it felt like a week. There is so much going on that it’s impossible to see everything and impossible to not see something great. If you’re planning on attending in the future, there are two things you should know: cell phone usage is out of the question in downtown Austin, and so is a reasonable parking situation.

Our peripheral (not part of the festival) performance was well-received by old and new fans alike, and it ended up being a perfect seminar in professionalism, improvisation, artistic direction for the band. It’s a great feeling to have people wander in from the street and have a good time listening to your music, and that was the most special feeling of the trip for me.

SXSW is like Disneyland in that it’s fleeting, crowded, hectic, cerebral, and corporate. Every now and then it was like Mecca: you’d meet people who felt as passionately as you did about their art, pushing themselves, hoping to break through. There’s a huge sense of unification within the artistic community at the festival, and it’s uplifting and refreshing in a lot of ways.

Have a nice day.

Feeling fortunate...
to have friends and family...
to work with (what may as well be) my brothers.

a new family.

An unofficial showcase at SXSW music festival in Austin, TX on march 18.

Soon after we're coming to Colorado on the heals of a new single release.

The world is a place of light, beauty and music. Hope your corner is warm and comfortable...
